What Are You So Sure About?
It seems that without conviction, nothing would ever get done.
With conviction, though, you might overdo, underdo, or do the wrong thing entirely.
“I’m convinced that with more efforts, I’ll get more sales.” Maybe. Maybe you should not depend on those sales and put your effort somewhere else. The sales will be a side-effect.
“I’m convinced that unless I make my newsletter super professional, people won’t find value.” Maybe. Maybe people will love it if you were just more sober about your ambitions, but still teach them what you know. They’re just hoping you teach them the basics.
“I’m convinced that this project will come to an end, so I better start looking around.” Maybe. Maybe it’s time to double-down on the value you’re providing, with conviction, and the next project might come at just the right time.
The professional sees the effects of conviction, takes a few steps back, and does the right thing.
