Manufacturing Confidence
To beat doubt, there’s little point in trying to create confidence.
That’s because you could say that doubt and confidence are two sides of the same coin. The coin of “results”. They both grow from prior conditions—you can manufacture neither.
And opposite doubt and confidence you find… skill (and its flip side: lack of skill). Whether the skill you miss is to perform, or simply to remember your successes, your doubt/confidence mix will skew to doubt. If your missing skill is that of empathy, you might have an overinflated sense of confidence.
When you develop your skills, your confidence level no longer matters, because you decided to prioritize self-betterment over self-perception.
No longer is it about manufacturing a feeling, but about manufacturing ability.
